Salimah Bte Ishak

Nature of disabilities: Transverse Myelitis


Salimah’s sensitivity to things around her are reflected in her works. Positive and colourful, with a touch of femininity, her works depicts her passion for life. Pushing forward and not giving up despite being paralysed at a young age, she joined SPD in 2000 and picked up various skills in using design software. Now a graphic designer and a digital artist, she hopes to impart her passion to others through her art.




Ang Cheng Shin, Kelvin

Nature of disabilities: Spinal Muscular Dystrophy


Born with Spinal Muscular Dystrophy, simple things like walking and swallowing were difficult for Kelvin since young. At age 11, he had to undergo a surgery and has since been confined to a wheelchair. However, these afflictions have not deterred Kelvin’s imagination and creativity. He was among the pioneer batch of trainees in the Multimedia Centre and is today one of the designers of electronic greeting cards and digital art pieces.




Tiew Ee Chih, Benson

Nature of disabilities: Spinal Cord Injury


A traffic accident seven years ago paralysed Benson from waist down. Benson displayed a courageous disposition and joined SPD’s Multimedia Centre, picking up computing skills and creation of digital art. With renewed understanding of life, Benson is now a motivated and deter mined individual.




Roslee B Karim

Nature of disabilities: Spinal Cord Injury


A traffic accident left Roslee with spinal cord injuries. Instead of feeling helpless, Roslee underwent intensive training in web and graphic design with SPD and he has today risen to be a team leader in charge of web design projects and a graphic artist at SPD’s Multimedia Centre. He takes pleasure in creating and pushing himself to the limits in his art, and through this optimistic spirit, continually redefines himself.
