Education Programme
Bursary
The SPD Bursary Award is given to students from low-income families studying in mainstream schools. Students must be physically disabled or have parent(s) with physical disabilities. The aim of the programme is to provide the students with a level playing field in education. The quantum of the grant ranges from $300 per year for primary level to $6,000 per year for university level.
Applications open in September each year. Successful applicants will receive the grant at the beginning of the next academic year.

SPD recognise that today’s youth are multi-talented and their interests span beyond the academic. The SPD Youth Aspiration Award aims to inspire talented youths with physical disabilities to pursue their interests, by alleviating their financial burdens.
The SPD Youth Aspiration Award is open for application to youths with physical disabilities studying in Secondary 1 to University levels to pursue interests in the areas of
- Visual and/or Performing Arts
- Sports
- Community Service
The award provides a grant of up to $5,000 per recipient. More information can be found in the application form. Eligible applicants are to submit the completed application form by 25 October 2010.
Case Management
Professional social workers provide counselling and help to students with physical disabilities and their families by looking into their social, financial and rehabilitation needs to students with physical disabilities and their families.
Social workers will help to recommend and co-ordinate specialised services of SPD (such as paediatric rehabilitation, assistive technology and learning & development programmes) that are required by students. Befriending and mentoring services are available for students with physical disabilities.
