Financial Aid
Financial assistance is provided to relieve the financial hardship of people with physical disabilities and their families.
- Groceries-for-Charity:
Sometimes in-kind contributions can also make a big difference to our beneficiaries. Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation and SPD have collaborated on the Groceries-for-Charity project to deliver ready-packed groceries packages to low-income families. Volunteers distribute the groceries personally to the homes of at least 100 families on a regular basis, at the same time interacting with and providing encouragement to them. The volunteers would feedback to SPD’s social workers should any needs of the beneficiaries surface.
- School Pocket Money Fund:
SPD has since June 2005 been appointed to disburse the School Pocket Money Fund to students from low income families so that these students need not go hungry during recess. The School Pocket Money Fund gives $35 for primary students and $60 for secondary students on a monthly basis.
- Financial Assistance for people with disabilities:
Social workers will assist people with disabilities to tap on various financial assistance schemes available in the community.
