Learning & Development Programme
The SPD Learning & Development Centre aims to provide new learning opportunities for students with physical disabilities. The centre organises activities for children as well as workshops and seminars for parents and teachers to guide them on how to handle children with physical disabilities.
Academic Support
Primary and secondary school students with physical disabilities who need help in their studies can benefit from partial/full sponsorship of private tuition at their homes. Applicants must be studying in mainstream schools, come from low-income families and have difficulty using public transport.
Non-Academic and Enrichment Programmes
SPD teams up with various course providers to offer quality programmes and activities that incorporate fun, learning, creative thinking, problem-solving, social skills and technology for children and youth with physical disabilities. During the school holidays, these children and youth can look forward to camps and workshops. The objectives are to build personal effectiveness, impart life skills and maximise the students’ potentials so that they can grow up to become more independent and contribute back to the community in a meaningful way.
A successful initiative is the SPeeDy Football Club, started with the objective of developing the self-confidence of students with disabilities through playing soccer. Formed in 2006, the club trains the students with disabilities in basic soccer skills through a structured and disciplined training programme, and aims to represent SPD in the disability games organised by Singapore Disability Sports Council and other national and regional competitions.

Career Development
Post-secondary school students who are thinking about their future direction will be offered career counselling to help students identify their interests and abilities, as well as set future-oriented goals. Students can learn more about themselves and develop self-awareness using personality profiling tools.
Parent Education Programmes
SPD aims to strengthen family ties and one of the ways is to support parents in coping more effectively. Strategies on communicating effectively with their physically disabled children, preparing a child for mainstream school or other skills like financial planning are some of the workshops available for parents.
