SPD Sports & Play Day 2016 | SPD - Singapore

SPD Sports & Play Day 2016

The spirit of friendly competition was in the air as 90 children from SPD’s Building Bridges EIPIC Centre at the SPD Ability Centre and SPD@Jurong gathered at Jurongville Secondary School on 24 September for the SPD Sports & Play Day 2016.

Sponsored by VFS Global and organised by our EIPIC teachers, the children and their family members participated actively in the relay activities and games, seemingly buoyed by the good showing of Singapore’s athletes at the recent Olympics and Paralympics. Twenty volunteers from the regular SPD volunteer group - Freedom Adventure Club - pitched in to give our teachers a hand to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Mdm Crystal was delighted to have taken part in the various activities with her 5 year-old daughter Persis. “My daughter can be shy, but the teachers really spent time encouraging her to participate. Pretty soon, she was so excited that she wanted to participate in everything! The games were well-suited to her abilities, and the other activities like the face painting were nice as well. We had a great day!” she said.

Mrs Ruby Tang, who accompanied her 3-year-old son Yu Kang, was also happy with the event. “It was memorable for the children and family with great bonding activities. The event, from the decorations to the food, was very well-organised, and the games were very well thought through. Good job to the committee, we want more next year! ” she said.

We look forward to the Sports & Play Day next year!
