Cindy Goh had been out celebrating the end of her school examinations with a night out cycling with friends when the unexpected happened. The then 15-year-old did not see a lorry illegally parked on the road and crashed into it. The accident left Cindy with serious spinal cord injuries. She was in a coma for two weeks and when she awoke, she was devastated at losing her ability to walk and her independence.

GoEasy (formerly known as Accessing Accessibility) was one of the five teams at the Enabling Community coLAB that won $20,000 in seed money to help jumpstart their idea. Consisting of six members, including two wheelchair users and an SPD staff, their solution works like mobile and web applications, or apps, that crowdsource feedback and rate places based on accessibility.

Published by the Charities Aid Foundation in the United Kingdom, the report provides insight to the act of giving across the globe annually, including Singapore, since 2010.

In this article, our advocacy senior analyst, Ms Poh Sho Siam, gives an overview of how Singapore has fared as compared to other countries in the world.

Organised by SPD’s Day Activity Centre, the Inter DAC Sports Day was held on 15 May at the Nanyang Polytechnic Indoor Sports Hall with NCSS’ Deputy CEO Ms Tina Hung as the Guest-of-Honour. The ‘mini-paralympics’ brought together participants with disabilities who competed in popular but modified sports such as discus-throwing, hockey and track events, as well as an unconventional donut-eating relay race.
