A Chance To Bring Christmas Cheers To A Few More People

Singapore, 22 November 2018 – You can make this Christmas more joyful for people with disabilities by buying the Christmas Cards produced by The Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD). The entire production process of the cards – from the first line drawn to the designing, printing, packing and delivery – is done by people with disabilities.

The cards, available in six designs are priced at $0.90 cents each. And for every order of 5,000 pieces or more, SPD will offer a complimentary leather bound photo album with personalised letterings on the cover. The album is also specially crafted and bound by people with disabilities.

Alfred Foo, a trainee of SPD’s Work Activity Centre, is one of the artists of the cards. Though he suffers from spastic paraplegia, he does not allow his limited ability to deter him from his beloved hobby, drawing. “I love to draw and paint my own creation. And I am especially thrilled that my favorite drawing, the elf is used as one of the designs for the Christmas cards.”

The cards are then printed and packed at the Society’s Production Workshop before they are delivered to the customers. Meanwhile, Daniel Kwok, a paraplegic actively promotes and sells the cards to prospective clients via telemarketing.

“We felt that there was sufficient talent and resources to start our own card project. The project was initiated to give a sense of achievement to the clients and also to provide job opportunities for the disabled. That the project becomes profit making is a bonus to us.”, said Mr Loke Ho Yong, Executive Director of SPD.

Please feel free to contact Ms Ruby Cheok on 6579 0741 or email at sales@spd.org.sg if you have any enquiries on the Christmas cards.
