It has often been said that the well-being of a workforce is closely linked to productivity. The impact and indirect costs of poor health includes absenteeism and reduced work output may be several times higher than direct medical costs and can even affect the most well-oiled workflow. Poet Gwendolyn Brooks once said “Good health is a duty to yourself, to your contemporaries, to your inheritors, to the progress of the world”. So for the general wellness of the SPD staff, we organised the SPD Well-Being Day on 27 November to not only promote healthy and positive living, but also allow staff from different centres to spend time together.
To kick off the morning’s programme, SPD board member Ms Chow Siew Ying addressed the 200 over staff at the SPD Ability Centre before presenting 17 staff with their 5-, 10- and 15-year long service awards.
Our heartiest congratulations to these long service awardees.
