The annual Organisational Excellence Day was held at MDIS ton 12 April. The theme for this year mainly revolved around “Strengthening Quality Service through people, productivity and innovation”. Employees were introduced to productive and innovative work tools and the bright ideas staff suggestion scheme was also introduced. This is to encourage and empower staff to take ownership, enhance work productivity and to share good work practices in SPD.

This year’s Organisational Excellence Day, which was held at the MDIS campus on 12 April, focused on the theme of “Strengthening Quality Service through People, Productivity and Innovation.” In alignment with the theme, employees were introduced to productive and innovative work tools such as QR code for registration, and the online Pigeonhole platform to facilitate the Q&A session during the panel discussion.

It was a fruitful and enriching session with the paneled guests – Ms Heidi Rafman, Chief ILTC Quality Productivity and Innovation Division from Agency of Integrated Care, Ms Vivienne Ng, Chief Psychologist from Ministry of Social and Family Development and Mr Loh Chin Hui, Head Social Service Leadership Unit from National Council of Social Service. They shared their experience on achieving quality service through people, and gave valuable inputs on productivity at work. Client-centric topics such as serving more clients through greater productivity and innovation and encouraging innovation in the workplace were also raised.

“The panel discussions where all parties are actively involved presented issues in different perspectives kept the audiences engaged and entertained,” observed HR executive Ow Yeong Wai Ling.

Executive Director of SPD, Mr Abhimanyau Pal stressed on the importance of being productive and constantly innovative at work.

When addressing staff in the second half of the event, executive director of SPD, Mr Abhimanyau Pal, stressed the importance of being productive and innovative in our work. He reminded us to grow connections so that more people will share our vision, and that scalability is just as important towards achieving the SPD Vision 2020 strategic plan. He later launched Bright Ideas, the staff suggestion scheme to encourage and empower staff to take ownership, enhance work productivity and to share good work practices in SPD.

Three staff who demonstrated outstanding service quality values in their work were also honoured at the event. It was the first time that the SPD Service Excellence Star Awards were given out. The trio – administrative executive Lena Ang, senior physiotherapist Pauline Koh and occupational therapist Astilla Sheena received the gold, silver and bronze awards respectively from Mr Pal.
