It was all cheery at SPD as volunteers and partners celebrated the festive season with us!
HSBC Children’s Festive Party
Staff volunteers from HSBC organised the HSBC Children’s Festive Party at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre on 6 December for more than 30 students under our SPD Education Programme and their siblings. A series of games that was inspired by the popular television game show “Minute to Win It” tested the participants’ perseverance and focus. The group trooped off to the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands thereafter to attend the ChildAid Concert.
Microsoft Singapore Festive Shopping at the Singapore Sports Hub
Volunteers from Microsoft Singapore brought early Christmas cheer to close to 40 trainees from our Sheltered Workshop and the SPD Day Activity Centre (DAC) when they took them on a tour of the Singapore Sports Hub topped with a shopping trip at a hypermarket on 11 December. Microsoft Singapore also paid for up to $50 of purchases that every beneficiary made.
Ci Ai Education Incubator Performance at DAC
Clients at SPD’s DAC were impressed by the performance put up by 20 children from Ci Ai Education Incubator, the early childhood education arm of Fo Guang Shan (Singapore) on 15 December. Everyone was also given a goodie bag to liven up the festive mood.
Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore Christmas Dinner
More than 40 clients from SPD’s DAC were at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore on 17 December for a scrumptious dinner along with close to 50 of Hotel Jen’s staff volunteers. The volunteers also visited SPD to celebrate with clients whose birthdays fell in December.
Pelican Pizza Treat
Pelican Pizza (S) Pte Ltd has been bringing sumptuous treats to our clients at SPD@Toa Payoh during the festive seasons in the past years. This year, they decided to spread some festive cheer to our trainees at the Sheltered Workshop as well. More than 300 slices of pizzas were delivered to the workshop during lunch on 19 December which everyone enjoyed.
Holiday Inn Atrium Christmas Luncheon
More than 60 DAC clients were at the Holiday Inn Atrium on 19 December for a Christmas luncheon that is fast becoming an annual tradition for us all. With games and food galore, the clients felt right at home in the company of the familiar volunteers.
Freedom Adventure Club Pet Therapy at Mutts & Mittens
It was all furry and fluffy for 11 young students from SPD’s Education Programme as they visited Mutts & Mittens on 20 December for a pet therapy session organised by the volunteers from resident volunteer group Freedom Adventure Club. It seemed that half a day was not enough for everyone as they had so much fun interacting with the canine and feline friends.
Here’s a big THANK YOU to all who took time and effort to celebrate this festive season with us!
