Education is a powerful tool to shape values, build character and inspire change. For Mdm Wang Jie, founder of Wang Learning Centre, teaching is not just a profession – it is a calling. Her work goes beyond academic excellence – it is about nurturing a generation of young learners who are empathetic, culturally rooted and socially responsible.
From one student to a life mission

Since graduating from Shaan Xi Normal University, Mdm Wang has devoted her life to education. A turning point came early in her career when a student whose grades improved dramatically asked: “Mdm Wang, can you please continue to teach me until high school?”. That heartfelt moment made her realise the lasting impact that teachers can have, not just in helping students succeed academically, but in giving them the confidence to thrive.
Inspired by her passion for language and culture, Mdm Wang established Wang Learning Centre in 2007. From the very beginning, giving back wasn’t just a motto – it became part of the Centre’s identity.
“I truly hope that the Centre is more than a place of learning, but also a space to spread warmth and social responsibility,” Mdm Wang said with a smile.
Instilling the right mindset in the next generation

Mdm Wang believes deeply in leading by example. Wang Learning Centre has been a dedicated supporter of SPD’s work to empower persons with disabilities. “I decided to support SPD because of their efforts in helping persons with disabilities and children with special needs. Their values align closely with ours,” said Mdm Wang.
At the Centre, learning is designed to go beyond textbooks. Lessons often tie in with everyday events and emphasise on respect for different cultures and communities. On occasions such as Mother’s Day and National Day, students create greeting cards for their loved ones, reinforcing values of gratitude and appreciation.
Mdm Wang and her team also rally their own community – parents, partners and friends – to support SPD. Each year, they support the SPD Charity Hong Bao, sharing appeal letters with parents and explaining the meaning behind the cause. Teachers also give back by participating in charitable activities at elderly homes or donating to causes close to their hearts.
This culture of kindness creates a strong bond within the team and has a powerful rippling effect.
“We hope to encourage the students to develop empathy skills and that they learn to be thankful for what they have.”
Giving back as a way of life

For Mdm Wang, giving back is not a one-time act – it is a way of life. She encourages like-minded business owners to start where they can. “Take part in a community event or donate to a cause that fits your values. What matters is taking that first step. Over time, it becomes part of your company’s culture,” said Mdm Wang.
From her humble beginning as a passionate teacher to becoming the founder of a centre that nurtures both minds and hearts, Mdm Wang’s journey shows that when education is guided by purpose, its reach extends far beyond the classroom.
The path to a more compassionate society starts with a simple but meaningful that crucial first step – a smile, a lesson, a small donation. And thanks to champions like Mdm Wang and Wang Learning Centre, this path is made clearer for the next generation to walk with pride and empathy.
