SPD Ability Walk 2024

Come and be part of the SPD Ability Walk 2024 in celebration of our diamond jubilee! Embark on a nostalgic journey along the stunning Singapore River and travelling back in time to play games from earlier days. This year, we hope to make it a memorable experience for all, allowing the younger generation to engage in, and the older generation to fondly reminisce, the past.

We will be bringing back the carnival and participants can look forward to a fun-filled carnival with interactive games and disability simulation activities after the walk. This year, we are privileged to have the presence of Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Trade and Industry, who will grace the event as our guest-of honour.

Join us for a day of giving back and golfing fun as we come together to champion for people with disabilities. This special day promises to be unforgettable for all involved!

This year is of particular significance for us as we celebrate our 60th anniversary and we invite you to join us in making positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.

All funds raised from the event will go towards enabling people with disabilities. In particular, proceeds from our Presenting and Special flights will go towards providing healthy adapted meals to adults with disabilities from our Day Activity Centre.

SPD Charity Hongbao is an annual fundraising initiative designed to encourage both individuals and corporates within the community to make a donation through the gift of a hongbao, and to inspire the people they meet during the festive season including family, friends and employees to join in. This ripple effect unites the community, creating a powerful force for positive change in the lives of those with disabilities, making a meaningful and lasting impact.

Schools and students
SPD Charity Hongbao partners with schools to reinforce the values of compassion and giving, complement their efforts to shape the character of our children. Corporate organisations
Participating companies are encouraged to actively engage their employees and business partners/customers urging them to contribute during the festive celebrations, enhancing the joy of the celebrations and creating a deeper sense of meaning, knowing they have played a part in improving the lives of persons with disabilities, making a tangible difference. Mechanics
Participating companies/schools will be given SPD Hongbao packets to be distributed to their employees/students and encouraging them to insert their contributions into the hongbao packets and dropping them into the collection boxes provided by SPD. SPD will collect the collection boxes after the Chinese New Year holidays.

Kowloon Club Chinese Golden Hits Charity Dinner 2023

This year, Kowloon Club Singapore will be raising funds for SPD through their Chinese Golden Hits Charity Dinner 2023 featuring local artists belting out classic hit songs from legendary Cantopop’s icons – Danny Chan, Wong Ka Kui, Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui ruled at genre’s golden age. Kowloon Club Singapore aims to raise S$200,000 from this event and funds raised will be channelled to help persons with disabilities, especially those from the lower income group access the programmes and services offered at SPD.

500,000km, 6 months, 1 challenge

SPD is one of three charities participating in The Run for Life Project – 2023 Moonshot Challenge. The project aims to inspire people all around the world to push their physical and mental boundaries by collectively covering 500,000km through activities such as running, walking, cycling, swimming, wheelchair or any movement over the course of 6 months!

By participating and starting a fundraising campaign on Giving.sg, you can make a significant impact on the lives of children with developmental needs whom SPD serves. Your efforts will enable us to extend our reach to more infants and children, provide early intervention programmes, empowering them to reach their fullest potential.

  • the fun and informative physical geo-location “Singapore River Trails” activity on 2 September at the iconic Singapore River!

Whether you prefer the flexibility of setting your own pace and completing the challenge on your own terms or the joy of bonding with your loved ones outdoors as you comb for checkpoints along the charming River, the enhanced SPD Ability Walk & Run has something for you! We will end-off the 3-week long event with the physical geo-location finale activity “Singapore River Trails”, where you have to locate checkpoints to complete on-site activities and quizzes through the 42Race mobile app. We are privileged to have Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs attend as our guest-of-honour.
