SINGAPORE, 1 September 2020 – Kowloon Club will hold its first online charity concert to raise funds for SPD, a local disability-focused charity, on Friday, September 4.

Titled “Lion Rock Spirit in Lion City” <<狮子山精神在狮城线上筹款夜>>, this concert was initiated by Kowloon Club in place of its annual charity walk, which was put on hold due to the Covid-19 situation.

The online concert will be graced by Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and National Development.

The programme line-up features local artistes including Singapore’s very own Cantopop king Jason Chung, vocal powerhouse Jessie Yeong and more, who will be belting out a repertoire of Cantopop songs and popular hits from Hong Kong TVB dramas.  

The highlight of the concert will be the performance by Guest-of-Honour Ms Sim Ann, who will be partnering Mr Philip Chan, Kowloon Club’s President, to delight the audience with musical classics such as <<俩忘烟水里>> and <<只有情永在>>.

A long-time partner of SPD, Kowloon Club has raised $128,000 for SPD through the “Charity in a Million Steps” charity hike last year.

“We are pleased and excited to organise our first virtual charity concert this year in support of SPD. I hope that the audience will enjoy what we have in line for them at the concert, while donating generously to support persons with disabilities who may need more help during this exceptional period. Every little bit counts,” said Mr Philip Chan, President of Kowloon Club.

Kowloon Club pledges to raise at least $50,000 through the online concert to empower persons with physical, developmental and sensory disabilities whom SPD is currently serving.

Mr Abhimanyau Pal, Chief Executive Officer of SPD, said: “We are extremely thankful to Kowloon Club for sharing our vision and for the continued partnership in supporting persons with disabilities. The donations will go a long way in helping persons with disabilities, especially during this challenging period.”
