Children from the Building Bridges EIPIC Centre at the SPD Ability Centre spread Chinese New Year cheer to the staff and clients at the Sheltered Workshop and the Day Activity Centre (DAC) on 25 and 26 January. With their teachers and caregivers in tow, the little ones put on a rousing lion dance routine to the delight of the audience.

Caden Chen, who donned the lion’s head (above left in blue), declared “it is not heavy” and did a fantastic job.

Lion dance performances are not unusual during the Lunar New Year celebration, but one that is put up by young children are a first for many in the audience. “I have never seen little children lion dance before,” said Lokman Nur Hakim Bin Ithmin, a client of the DAC.

“It was very endearing and heartwarming for the children to think about spreading Chinese New Year joy to the clients,” said SPD occupational therapist Chua Yong Zhen.
