SINGAPORE, 8 September 2025 – Persons with disabilities and their caregivers in Bedok will benefit from greater access to support services by the Enabling Services Hub (ESH), with the opening of a co-sharing space for ESH located within UP³ at New Upper Changi Road, a community space by the Bedok Community Centre Management Committee (CCMC) under Bedok Grassroots Organisations.

ESH, by SG Enable in partnership with social service agencies, are part of efforts under the Enabling Masterplan 2030, which seeks to bring services closer to homes through a regional approach. Since the inception of the first hub in 2023, ESH@Tampines – by SG Enable and SPD – has been serving persons with disabilities and their caregivers in Tampines and Bedok.

This co-sharing space, developed in collaboration with Bedok CCMC, marks a significant step in enhancing ESH’s reach by leveraging community assets and deepening engagement with partners, agencies and volunteers. It will also strengthen outreach and participation among Bedok residents.

Through disability support such as information and referral, caregiver support, lifelong learning opportunities as well as inclusive social and recreational activities that encourage the participation of persons with and without disabilities, ESH fosters social engagement and community connection for all residents.

“Bedok is a community where neighbours look out for one another. This ESH space at UP³ strengthens support for persons with disabilities, while creating more opportunities for residents to connect, contribute and build a caring, inclusive Bedok together,” said Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash, Minister of State at Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Manpower, Mayor of South East District and Adviser to East Coast GRC GROs (Bedok).

Bedok resident and ESH beneficiary, Nicole Chew, who has intellectual disability, will benefit from the convenience of a co-sharing space at Bedok Community Centre’s UP³. Enrolled last year to expand her social circle, the 21-year-old has grown in confidence through inclusive activities such as handicraft workshops and Zumba. With the proximity of UP³, her mother, Mdm Wendy Goh, sees it as a step towards helping Nicole to build up her confidence to travel independently to ESH.

SPD’s partnership with Bedok CCMC through the ESH strengthens its support for persons with disabilities and their caregivers in Bedok. This builds on SPD’s presence in the community, including two Early Intervention Centres and collaborations with Bedok South Secondary School to create inclusive opportunities through student volunteerism, school activities and vocational training and employment at its canteen stall. Together with partners, SPD is helping to build a supportive and inclusive Bedok where persons with disabilities can thrive.

“We are very grateful to Advisor Dinesh and the Bedok CCMC for supporting ESH’s dedicated presence in Bedok at UP³. This collaboration is more than sharing spaces, it is about sharing a vision of an inclusive and supportive environment. By working hand in hand, we can remove barriers, connect resources, and create opportunities for persons with disabilities to live, work, and participate fully in their community. Inclusion happens when the whole community comes together, and we are committed to being a part of that fabric here in Bedok,” said Mr Abhimanyau Pal, Chief Executive Officer, SPD.

The collaboration between Bedok CCMC and SPD reflects Bedok’s commitment to the Enabling Masterplan 2030 vision to harness community resources and galvanise grassroots organisations, social service agencies, schools, volunteers and businesses in building inclusive neighbourhoods, one where everyone, regardless of ability, feels valued and supported.
