Close to 40 children from SPD’s Building Bridges EIPIC Centres benefited from a vision screening conducted by Ngee Ann Polytechnic at SPD@Jurong on 11 November 2017. The children were tested for their eyesight, visual alignment, colour vision, as well as 3D-vision.

Parents were also invited to bring their children to Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic or ITE College (East) for a full eye examination after the vision screening. They will be prescribed with spectacles at no costs if their child requires one.

In addition, more than 40 students and staff from Ngee Ann Polytechnic also organised arts and crafts activities to keep the children engaged while they wait for their turn.

The student volunteers also conducted an eye care talk for parents and caregivers who received tips on taking care of their children’s eyes and vision.

“The talk was useful as we learnt different types of eye problems and how to take care of our child’s vision as well,” said Mrs Rahimah Beevi, whose son Muhd Gaazi attends class at SPD@Jurong.

Another parent from the same centre, Mrs Karpagavalli, appreciated the eye screening session.

“It was very useful for me as I was able to better understand my child’s eye condition. The students and staff were very polite in assisting us during the screening,” she said.
