How would you describe SPD Therapy Hub’s environment for novice therapists?

As a novice occupational therapist, having a supportive social environment has boosted my confidence and made my professional journey in SPD a fulfilling one.

What do you appreciate most about the culture at the culture here?

I love travelling and being close to nature. Hiking is one of my favourite activities. When I see the lush trees and plants in their natural settings, I think about how ample amounts of sunshine and rain contribute to their elegance and magnificence.

Relating that to my memory of being a newbie in the sector, I am glad that the SPD Therapy Hub is staffed with nurturing and experienced seniors who are occupational therapists as well as of other disciplines.  They were very generous in sharing their knowledge and insights. I appreciate this culture of openness where sharing of knowledge and experience with one another is highly encouraged as there is just this much that we can learn from books.

I was assigned a work buddy in my first year and we have been great friends since!

How much have you “blossomed” so far?

I’m in my second year at SPD Therapy Hub now and I have been deployed to a nursing home. Initially, I felt some stress over this assignment as it meant having to meet the expectations of another organisation as well. However, with time and support from the SPD Therapy Hub team, I to adapted quickly and could put my knowledge to good use.

I’m still a growing tree and I find joy learning new things from those around me every day. I’m glad to be in a large and nurturing environment that is the SPD Therapy Hub.
