ExxonMobil Asia Pacific’s annual charity running carnival, ‘Running for a Cause’ took place on a balmy 7 September. Organised for their employees and families, the global energy provider designated SPD as the event’s sole beneficiary for the third consecutive year.

Participants ran in one of three races – 2km, 4km or 8km. For every employee who donated a minimum amount of $10 to participate, ExxonMobil matched their contribution dollar-for-dollar.

Twenty DAC clients were also invited to join in the 2km SPD Fun Trail alongside more than 1,000 participants who helped raise close to $43,000 for SPD.

To the delight of the DAC clients, ExxonMobil staff also incorporated a trip to the Singapore Flyer before heading to the flag off at Gardens by the Bay East.

A nine-man DAC choir showed their appreciation by singing the ‘Sunshine Theme Medley’ at a post-run fringe event, sharing the stage with the NUS Symphony Quartets.

“We are thankful to ExxonMobile for choosing SPD as the beneficiary of this fundraiser for yet another year. Not only has the organisation as a whole donated money, the management and staff have also given time and effort in ensuring that the event went well and that our clients were well taken care of both at the Singapore Flyer and the carnival. We certainly appreciate the great lengths they have gone to to organise this charity event and making it a memorable one for our DAC clients,” said Ms Katherine Sng, Assistant Director of Community Partnerships, SPD.
