SPD Ability Centre gathered for the National Day Observance Ceremony on the morning of 8 August to renew our allegiance to our country.
Any celebration of the nation’s birthday has always been a joyous affair at SPD. No exception this year as staff at the SPD Ability Centre gathered for the National Day Observance Ceremony on the morning of 8 August to renew our allegiance to our country.
Teachers from the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) at both SPD@Jurong and SPD Ability Centre put in a lot of hard work to plan activities and games for the children from the centres on 7 and 8 August respectively. Through fun activities, the children got to learn interesting facts about Singapore. We thank VFS Global for sponsoring these two celebrations.
At SPD@Toa Payoh, more than 80 adults and elderly beneficiaries participated in the annual National Day celebrations organised by 30 staff and volunteers on 8 August. Reminiscence therapy was conducted with photographs from yesteryears and singing along to the familiar tunes of our National Day songs. The beneficiaries also took a tote-bag designing activity very seriously. Designed to the National Day theme, the prints that they came up with were nothing short of inspiring.

It was a memorable National Day celebration for five beneficiaries, along with their caregivers and SPD staff, as they soaked in the patriotic atmosphere at the row closest to all the action at the National Day Parade 2014. Special thanks to Akira Singapore and the NDP 2014 Organising Committee who made the trip possible.
