Volunteers from the Advisors’ Clique from Great Eastern Financial Advisers Pte Ltd sponsored and organised a National Day party for 70 children and caregivers from the Building Bridges EIPIC Centre at the SPD Ability Centre.

The bouncing castle they erected brought out squeals of delight from the children and the young at heart. Game stations set up put the children’s cognitive planning and co-ordination skills to the test.

Snacks contributed by the caregivers, along with freshly-twirled candy floss and caramelised popcorn, made everyone’s day. The children went home happy clutching bags of goodies.

SPD@Jurong also organised a national day party for 64 children and 85 caregivers with the help of about 20 volunteers from the Land Transport Authority.

Games, refreshments and a repertoire of national songs kept the children thoroughly entertained.

After the event, the team at SPD@Jurong took the opportunity to spend time together bonding over lunch and to foster stronger ties through teambuilding activities.

Red and white attire? Check! Singapore flag and national anthem? Check! Spirit of nationalism on our sleeves? Check!

And we were all set for SPD’s National Day 2015 Observance Ceremony at the SPD Ability Centre on 6 August. This year, the patriotic spirit was even more evident as staff and clients sang the national anthem, recited the pledge and crooned to a few popular national day tunes.

Little ones from My First Skool, a stone’s throw away from SPD@Toa Payoh, brought much cheer to the elderly clients there when they dropped by to celebrate National Day together with a song and dance segment.

A donation from our friendly neighbour, the popular Ah Chiang Traditional Charcoal Porridge in Tiong Bahru, capped our National Day celebrations. Representing the business in presenting the cheque to SPD was none other than former owner Mr Cher Kee Chiang, who dropped by personally at our headquarters in SPD Ability Centre with the donation. The shop had pledged the earnings on 9 August to SPD, giving back to the community as part of their SG50 celebrations. We take this opportunity to thank Ah Chiang Traditional Charcoal Porridge for their generosity.
