SPD’s 52nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 27 August 2016 at the SPD Ability Centre.

At the AGM, SPD President Ms Chia Yong Yong reviewed key highlights and achievements for the Financial Year 2015/2016 and confirmed the key focus areas for FY2016/2017 which included working with other voluntary welfare organisations to reach out to people who require SPD’s specialised services, organising more outreach programmes, and serving more clients through services for children, assistive technology and employment.

In addition, we welcomed SPD Services Committee member Mr Zhang Weijie to the Board. As Director of the Residents/Neighbourhood Committee (RC/NC) Division at the People’s Association, Mr Zhang supports frontline grassroots organisations in engaging their residents, building social capital and promoting neighbourliness, harmony and cohesiveness. We look forward to working with Mr Zhang to integrate persons with disabilities in our community.

We also bid farewell to one of our long-serving Board members Mr Soh Chee Keong at the AGM who has stepped down from the Board of Management in August 2016. Mr Soh served as a Board member since August 1998, and at various junctures, took office as Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Assistant Treasurer and Vice-President. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to him for his past contributions and wish him the best in his endeavours.
