SPD held its 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26 August 2017 at the SPD Ability Centre.

At the AGM, the organisation’s key highlights and achievements of FY2016/2017 were shared. Elaborating on service improvements and better service outcomes achieved in the financial year, it touched on the setting up of two new Building Bridges EIPIC Centres in Bedok and Tampines, as well as the new training programme at the Day Activity Centre and the launch of the youth mentorship programme.

Over the course of the year, SPD had worked towards better public outreach, connecting and collaborating with various stakeholders. We jointly organised a conference on inclusive education with ITE College Central in October 2016 and also went on to expand our influence in the community through an intensive 10-week “Breaking Barriers” campaign. These, together with other advocacy and public education engagements throughout the year, enabled us to reach out to 14,000 individuals.

The intermediate goals of SPD that would guide the organisation forward in its next strategic cycle named Vision 2020 were also shared. These include seeking relevant industry benchmarking for organisational and service excellence, as well as enhancing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Finance and Customer Relationships Management (CRM) systems for higher productivity and efficiency, in order to support the client-centric culture that SPD wants to further develop.
