SPD Holds 58th Annual General Meeting

The Board of Management for the term 2022 to 2024 was elected at our Annual General Meeting on 27 August 2022.

At our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which took place at the SPD Ability Centre on 27 August, the Board of Management for the term 2022 to 2024 was elected. We are happy to announce the appointment of Ms Ong Toon Hui as SPD’s new President. Ms Ong takes over Mr Winston Ngan, who served as SPD’s President since September 2020.

Before that, Mr Ngan was SPD’s Vice-President between 2012 and 2020, after having joined the Board in 2010. In the time, we grew in our service offering including providing therapy and educational support to children with developmental needs, active rehabilitation, work readiness training and employment support to stroke survivors and those with spinal cord injuries to prepare them for return to work through the Transition to Employment Programme. In the process, we were also awarded the Charity Governance Award in 2012 and 2016 and the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards (Non-Profit Organisation) in 2016.

Our achievements would not have been possible without Mr Ngan’s gentle steering and steadfast guidance.

Taking over as our President is Ms Ong Toon Hui who was previously Vice-President.

A member of SPD’s Board of Management since 2016, Ms Ong is presently the Dean and CEO of Singapore’s Civil Service College, and concurrently Deputy Secretary (Development) in the Public Service Division of Prime Minister’s Office. In recognition of her contributions, Ms Ong was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in August 2021.

Succeeding Ms Ong as Vice-President is Professor Ho Lai Yun, JP, BBM(L).

In addition, two long-serving Board members Ms Chow Siew Ying and Dr Ng Yee Sien have stepped down from our Board in compliance with our Constitution, since both have served for five consecutive terms on the Board. Their wealth of knowledge in the areas of corporate governance and rehabilitation has been invaluable in guiding SPD’s Board and staff.

We congratulate Ms Ong and Professor Ho on their new appointments and thank them as well as Mr Ngan, Ms Chow and Dr Ng for having generously volunteered their time and expertise to work alongside us in advancing our cause.  We wish all of them great success in their undertakings.
