SPD was one of the 88 organisations to receive the Enabling Mark on 27 August 2021, with President Halimah Yacob gracing this inaugural award ceremony. This is a national-level accreditation framework by SG Enable that benchmarks and recognises organisations for their best practices and outcomes in disability-inclusive employment.

A disability-focused charity, we are committed to working in partnership with people with disabilities to develop their potential to the fullest so they can be self-reliant and independent.  We do so with the vision of an inclusive community where everyone is a part of it, not apart from it. This also extends to our corporate culture and practices.

Diversity is very much a part of our DNA, and we believe that diversity and inclusion are important building blocks of a dynamic and progressive workforce. Staff with disabilities are included in all the activities and this means making accommodation such as transport arrangements and taking into consideration of the needs of those with disabilities including the accessibility of event venue, type of activities planned etc, when planning for company events.

In an e-mail to staff, SPD CEO Mr Abhimanyau Pal, said: “This award is really a testament of our mission to drive inclusion in Singapore. Not only do we work on rehabilitating our clients and advocating on all fronts to seed mindset change so that the community welcomes people of all abilities, we also walk the talk with our inclusive corporate culture that speaks of who we are and what we stand for.”

He commended the staff for continuing the legacy and spirit of SPD’s founding fathers.

“You have all played an important role in creating this thriving work environment that exemplifies inclusiveness – one where we never fail to look out for one another so that everyone is included and engaged whether in work or during play, and where we could all contribute to our best abilities in our respective role in the organisation,” he added.

SPD has been accredited with the Enabling Mark (Gold) for two years.
