SPD Thanks All Supporters for a Successful SPD Charity Show 2013

SINGAPORE, 18 March 2013 – The Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) has raised over $4 million so far through the SPD Charity Show 2013 telecast on television last night, exceeding the $3.5 million target that was set for the show. The funds raised from the show will contribute significantly to the $5 million that the organisation has to raise in the year.

More than 30 popular local and foreign artistes performed on the three-hour programme that was aired over Channel 8. Themed “Where Dreams Begin”, three of SPD’s clients also took to the stage and demonstrated their abilities and what they hope for.

Ms Chia Yong Yong, President of SPD, said: “We are very grateful to everyone who dialed the telepoll numbers and donated to us. We also thank all our partners who stood by us and supported us with their valuable contributions, helping us make the SPD Charity Show 2013 a success. We look forward to the continued support from everyone in the new year as we strive to deliver quality programmes and services to those who require them.”

From 26 February 2013 to the end of the show on 17 March 2013, donors made contributions of $5, $15, $30 and $100 by calling four telepoll hotline numbers. For each call made, an administration fee of $0.21 was levied with GST chargeable only on this fee, and not on the donated amount.

The donation hotlines will stay open till 25 March 2013, and the public can still call these numbers to make their donation:

1900-112 0303 for a $5 donation
1900-112 1313 for a $15 donation
1900-112 2323 for a $30 donation
1900-112 3333 for a $100 donation

Funds raised from the show will go towards helping over 4,500 people with disabilities that the organisation is currently serving through its programmes and services.
