We formally welcome Dr Ng Yee Sien who joined the Board of Management on 28 October. A distinguished clinician, researcher and educator, Dr Ng brings with him a wealth of experience from the medical profession.

The Head and Senior Consultant in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Dr Ng is no stranger to SPD as we have been collaborating with SGH on Rehabilitation Medicine since 2007.

Currently, Dr Ng also serves in several committees including the Chapter of Rehabilitation Physicians at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, as its honorary secretary, and member of the Singapore Rehabilitation Medicine Society. Dr Ng is also deputy chair for the Ministry of Health’s National Rehabilitation Workgroup and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Dr Ng has carried out numerous research trials and his works had been published. He has won numerous awards, amongst which were the EXSA Star Excellent Service Award 2007/2009, the Service with a Heart Award 2006/2008 and the MOH/SGH Long Service Award in 2005.

Despite his busy schedule, Dr Ng has found time to actively give back to the community. He has volunteered his medical knowledge and expertise which benefited chronically-ill children including those with disabilities as well as the elderly and patients in need of rehabilitative care.

“Having interacted and worked with various teams from SPD at Rehabilitation Medicine, their professionalism and dedication to the people they helped really stood out. I am happy to accept SPD’s invitation to join its Board of Management and look forward to contributing to the good work that it is already doing,” said Dr Ng.
