What made you switch out of the private sector?

After some time working in the private sector, I felt that the patients I served every day were just customers and they were slowly becoming numbers that I need to meet for my KPIs. It was a stable job but there were just routine clinical work with few opportunities to grow my professional portfolio.

How different has the clinical work at SPD been for you?

I saw the scale and possibilities in the SPD Therapy Hub and joined the team in 2018. I regained the drive and felt the satisfaction as an occupational therapist. Through the SPD Therapy Hub, I am deployed to support programmes for children of different age groups and abilities, which meant that I could journey with them and witness their improvements as they progress from one stage of their lives to another. These experiences have provided me with a more holistic view on the work that I do, and I could see myself growing as a professional.

Other than clinical work, what other opportunities do SPD Therapy Hub offer?

Other than clinical work, I have also been provided the opportunity to supervise students and new therapists. Learning goes both ways, which means that not only am I able to share my knowledge and experience with new entrants into the profession, I also benefitted from tremendously from these experiences.
