Walk the Talk. Join in SPD’s First Charity Walk.

SINGAPORE, 26 July 2016 – SPD, a voluntary welfare organisation that helps people with disabilities, will hold its first SPD Ability Fun Walk at the Punggol Waterway Park on 10 September 2016. The walk serves to promote inclusion by providing an opportunity for the general public and people with special needs to walk together as a united community for a worthy cause.

In line with the walk’s theme “Happy Hatters on the Loose”, participants will receive in their walk pack a bright yellow and green-striped top hat on which they are encouraged to decorate and put their stamp. Photo stands will also be set up to enable participants to capture and share photographs.

A post-walk carnival awaits participants with food as well as games that are aimed at increasing disability awareness. They can also try out sports activities such as basketball, soccer, archery and boccia that are modified for the special needs community.

Registration fees are at $48 and $20 for adults and children respectively. Early birds (registration before 31 July) and PAssion Card holders pay $40 and $38 respectively.

Funds raised from the walk will be channeled to SPD’s programmes and services to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and become self-reliant and independent.

Sign up for SPD’s online newsletter UPDATES between 1 August 2016 and 19 August 2016 and stand a chance to be one of five lucky winners of two complimentary slots to the walk each. Winners will be notified by e-mail.

The SPD Ability Fun Walk 2016 is supported by Tote Board and Singapore Pools, corporate sponsors FMC Technologies, Jurong Port, Alternate Wellness Holdings, Phillips 66, Melilea International, and community partners Sport Singapore, ActiveSG and People’s Association.
