SPD Goes Purple in Support of The Purple Parade

We were excited to be a part of The Purple Parade's 10th anniversary this year. Here are some of the activities that took place at the event last month.

We throwback to last month on 29 October when a sea of purple swept across Suntec City. The Purple Parade returned with an in-person event after two years of virtual celebrations. What made this year even more significant was the celebration of the Purple Parade’s 10th anniversary!

Since the inauguration of the Purple Parade in 2013, SPD has been supporting this largest movement in Singapore that promotes inclusion and celebrates the abilities of persons with disabilities. We were excited and honoured to be part of the working committee for the 10th year running.

Joining hands with our corporate partner TechnipFMC, we formed a 50-pax strong contingent comprising volunteers from TechnipFMC, SPD staff as well as clients from our Day Activity Centre (DAC).

Our contingent – the “Plucky P”, is a name that has stuck with us for a few years as it signifies the determination and courage that our people have shown amid adversities.

Besides the contingent, our DAC and Sheltered Workshop colleagues also set up a carnival booth selling craftwork made by our clients, as well as items from the SPD Artisan Collab range.

Our partners – ISS Hydroculture Pte Ltd, AcuMed Medical Group and Phan Nee Supermarket – also sponsored items such as hydro-plants, plush toys, and t-shirts with designs inspired by our clients’ artwork, for sale at the carnival.

“We believe in supporting and championing the cause for the special needs community. We are excited to work with SPD as the clients have great potential to showcase their work and abilities. We look forward to more collaboration with SPD in the future,” said Mr Daniel Lee, Business Excellence Manager, ISS Hydroculture Pte Ltd.

“We are heartened to see so many like-minded corporates and individuals work together to promote greater inclusion for persons with disabilities through this movement, and we are proud to be a part of the Purple Parade for the past 10 years,” said Mr Abhimanyau Pal, SPD’s Chief Executive Officer.

Big thanks to all our partners for their continued support and we look forward to another round of partnership in the next event!
