Since its launch in 2019, UNLABEL has encouraged Singaporeans to look beyond stereotypes and see the person, not the disability.
Through this year’s theme of See “This Ability”, we invite you to shift your perspective and recognise the abilities, strengths, and contributions of persons with disabilities.
About UNLABEL Campaigns
Negative attitudes or perceived negative ones towards persons with disabilities can become a barrier towards the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the community.
Persons with disabilities are sometimes viewed as having limited capabilities and contributions to society, whereas in reality, there are many who have defied stereotypes and continue to lead very meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Aligned with SPD’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the campaign theme this year “Imagining Better Tomorrows, Together” encourages the community to unite in building a brighter future for persons with disabilities through technology and an inclusive mindset.

If a person with a disability shares an ambition, ask "How can I help you achieve that?" instead of assuming "That's impossible."

Focus on the individual's skills, interests, and professional goals, rather than only focusing on their disability. Treat them as an individual first.

In the workplace or community, treat accommodation as a necessary tool for performance and inclusion, not a favour.

If a problem arises, look for the systemic, attitudinal, or physical barrier that needs removing, instead of what the individual is lacking in.
