Currently, we are looking for volunteers to assist in the following projects:

Home-based befriending

Type of Help Sought Location, Frequency and Duration Requirements & Responsibilities of Volunteers
To befriend clients who need companionship, support, and friendship, to avoid social isolation Island wide

- Required to visit clients at least once per month through home visits, phone calls, or online check-ins
- Able to commit for 1 year
- At least 21 years old and above
- Able to converse in English and mother tongue, preferably some dialects
- To build a supportive relationship, offering emotional support, and engaging in activities that promote social interaction and well-being for the clients

Outings & Events

Type of Help Sought Location, Frequency and Duration Requirements
Centre-based activities:

- To conduct activities (e.g. baking, gardening, art classes, sport clinics etc.)
- To engage elderly with dementia/ disabilities
Toa Payoh OR Canberra

-Weekly, on Mondays to Fridays
- 10am to 2pm for 3 months
- Able to conduct small interest group sessions for clients
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients
- Preferably consists of at least 5 pax to cater to the number of clients in the centres
"DAC without walls (DWW)"

-DWW seeks to integrate our clients into the community through exposure and socialising in various community settings
-We are looking for volunteers to engage them in leisure, recreational and sports actvities with our community partners.
Clementi/ Harbourfront/ Tiong Bahru

-Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
- Between 7:30am to 2:30pm
-Able to commit to a minimum of 3 months
- At least 21 years old and above
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients
- Comfortable to assist clients on wheelchair and work alongside SPD staff

Programme Support

Sports Facilitator

- Facilitation of Social Activities with Persons with Disabilities & their Caregivers at Enabling Services Hub (ESH)
- Engage and befriend beneficiaries in sports programmes (i.e., floorball, basketball, swimming)
Basketball court/ Badminton Hall at Enabling Services Hub (Tampines West Community Centre)

- Every Tuesday (9am to 11am or 10am to 12pm)
- Able to commit for at least 3 months
- Ability to participate in physical activities
- Willing to engage and befriend Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)
- Willing to be a team player alongside SPD Staff

Roles include:
-Support and manage beneficiaries’ mobility during activities (including pushing of wheelchairs)
- Prepare activity materials
- Facilitate activities together with SPD Staff
- Interact with clients through the activities
- Ensure compliance to safety guidelines during activities
- Assist with cleaning and arrangement of equipment or tools (before and after activities); sterilise when necessary
Jalan Jalan at Bedok Reservoir

- To accompany clients for a walk at Bedok Reservioir
Bedok Reservoir
(Meeting point at Taxi Stand Exit B, Bedok Reservoir MRT Station, Downtown line DT 30)

- Every alternate Wednesday (9am to 11am)
- Able to commit for at least 3 months
- Ability to participate in physical activities
- Willing to engage and befriend Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)
- Willing to be a team player alongside SPD Staff

Roles include:
- Support and manage beneficiaries’ mobility during activities (including pushing of wheelchairs)
- Interact with clients through the activities
- Ensure compliance to safety guidelines
Cooking Programmes

To assist and facilitate the cooking sessions, along side with vendor and staff
Enabling Services Hub (Tampines West Community Club), Level 3 Activity Room 7

- Every alternate Wednesday (2pm to 4pm)
- Able to commit for at least 3 months
- Willing to engage and befriend Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)
- A team player, able to work alongside SPD staff

Roles include:
- Prepare activity materials
- Support and manage beneficiaries’ mobility during activities (including pushing of wheelchairs)
- Interact with clients through the activities
- Ensure compliance to safety guidelines during sessions
- Assist with cleaning and arrangement of equipment or tools (before and after activities); sterilise when necessary
Travel Buddy

To accompany a child from the childcare centre to our EIPIC centre and back to childcare centre.
SPD HQ (Tiong Bahru)

- Every Tuesday (7.45am – 12pm)
- Able to commit for at least 6 months
- At least 30 years old and above
- Matured, patient and responsible
- Experienced with managing children
- Training and orientation will be provided
Medical Buddy

To accompany beneficiaries for medical appointments
Island-wide

- Weekdays, 3-4 hours each session
- Able to commit for at least 3 to 6 months
On needs-basis
- Ar least 21 years old and above
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients
- Physically fit, comfortable to push a wheelchair
- Able to communicate in English and another mother tongue language would be a bonus

Roles include:
-Assist clients to travel from their home to the hospital/ clinic for their medical appointments, and back to home
- Volunteers help on medicine collection, fixing next medical appointment and ensuring the necessary documents has been prepared for the appointment
Hydrotherapy Assistants

To assist clients with aquatic exercises and swimming under the guidance of physiotherapist
Heartbeat@Bedok

- Wednesday (8.30am to 10.30am)
- Able to commit for at least 3 months
- Above 18 years old
- Possess good water confidence
- Physically fit, comfortable to assist clients on wheelchair
- Able to communicate in English

Roles include:
Volunteers will assist to facilitate activities in the water alongside SPD staff
