A/Prof Chong Shang Chee is a Senior Consultant Developmental Paediatrician and heads the Child Development Unit (CDU) at the National University Hospital. This is one of two national centres under the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) National Child Development Programme. She is also Deputy Director at the Centre for Holistic Initiatives for Learning and Development (CHILD) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, where she brings relevant expertise in early childhood sector leadership and practice to the centre.

A/Prof Chong works with various Government agencies such as MOH, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and the Early Childhood Development Agency in the development of national policies on child health, early intervention and early childhood education. She was part of the Compulsory Education workgroup for children with special education needs, Kidstart Evaluation Advisory Panel and the Early Years Development Framework workgroup. A/Prof Chong is a member of the Child and Maternal Health and Wellbeing taskforce spearheaded by MOH. She is also currently serving as a Board member of Suncare SG.

A/Prof Chong believes strongly in co-creating solutions with Government and community agencies and practitioners to advance child health and child development. For her contributions to various projects with the MSF, she was also awarded the Friends of MSF Award in 2021. She had also previously received the National Service Excellence Award (Silver) in 2005.
