What do you do when you meet someone with a disability? Should you offer help? Is a handshake appropriate?

With more attention and focus on inclusion and integration of persons with different abilities at the fore, it has become more important for us to understand and have knowledge about disabilities. Keen to know more? Sign up for this virtual Disability Etiquette Talk!

Topics covered
Learn what are the general types of disabilities, the barriers faced by persons with disabilities, as well as disability etiquette. Find out how you can extend your help when needed.

Guest speaker: SPD Inclusion Champion Mdm Tahirah Mohamed
Mdm Tahirah has nine children, seven of whom have special needs, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and global developmental delay (GDD).

Being the main caregiver to her children, Tahirah understands the challenges of raising a special needs child and was inspired to share her personal experience to other parents. This mighty mum is currently an active and vocal advocate for autism awareness and caregiver self-care on her social media platforms.

In this session, Tahirah will share from her perspective as a caregiver how the community can render help to persons with disabilities and their caregivers, when needed.
