Ms Phyllis Chau starts the presentation
Training is essential in developing the health-care manpower capabilities for continued excellence. The Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) is aimed at developing Singapore’s health-care manpower capabilities and improving the quality and range of health services to meet evolving national health-care needs by learning from the best.
We were happy to host Ms Phyllis Chau, senior manager of The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, at the SPD Ability Centre on 23 May as part of the HMDP. Invited by THK-AMK Community Hospital, she gave a talk on ‘Self-Management and Self-Help in Stroke Rehabilitation’ involving more than 30 participants from SPD and other local acute and community care organisations. Prior to training our staff on stroke management, there was also a tour around SPD to familiarise the HMDP experts on SPD’s programmes and services, as well as the local disability sector.
The visitors from Hong Kong also presented a research paper on stroke care management and held a dialogue with participants on this topic.
