SPD has launched a new programme in June to help prepare stroke survivors and those with spinal cord-related injuries to return to mainstream workforce. The programme encompasses active rehabilitation, work readiness training and employment support.

The Transition Programme for Employment (TPE) helps young adults below 50 years old.

“Stroke survivors and people with spinal cord injuries may have physical limitations, but are cognitively capable. Many of them want, and are able, to contribute to society. We believe that with the right training and support, they can return to the workforce. This is what the TPE aims to do,” said Susan Teo, programme head of TPE.

The TPE is supported by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and employment support specialists. The team conducts regular assessments and reviews the clients’ progress to track goals and maximise their employment potential.
