Video for Caregivers of Children with Special Needs Launched

SPD’s Children Services (CS) launched our first video for parents of children with special needs in September.

The video aims to encourage new parents of children with special needs by featuring the parenting experiences of four caregivers of children enrolled in the Building Bridges EIPIC Centre and SPD’s Continuing Therapy Programme (CTP).

Produced pro-bono by Instant Replay Productions, the video is the production company’s corporate social responsibility project.

As part of the preparatory ground work, the video crew met with key staff of the division and talked with the caregivers to understand the highs and lows of their parenting journeys. In these sessions, the caregivers shared how they balanced daily commitments and overcame difficulties, and also words of encouragement to other parents of children with special needs.

The interview and filming took place in locations where the caregivers frequented with their children to allow viewers a glimpse into their daily lives and how they interacted with their children.

Professionals from the division also shared about how the EIPIC and CTP teams work with caregivers to better meet the needs of the child.

“Through the caregivers’ sharing, we hope parents of children with special needs can continue to find inspiration and strength to strive on in their caregiving journey,”

said Ms Becky Hoo, Director of Children Services.

The video will be screened at the Building Bridges EIPIC Centres’ Caregiver Orientation for parents and caregivers of children who are newly enrolled into the programme.

We thank Instant Replay Productions and the caregivers featured in the video for their contribution and support in making this project a successful one.
